Leads Are Real People.
When you don’t think of leads as people, you already are at a loss.
What do I mean by this?
I think we all go through this stage and we zone in on the money we want to make in our businesses.
We want to have more freedom or want to quit our jobs and travel the word and get caught up in making as much money as possible and we lose sight of really why we are doing what we are doing.
Regardless of what business you have, you are probably wanting to help someone do something or what to impact people’s lives in one way or another
When we start our businesses though, we are so eager to fulfill our mission that it quickly turns into something about money.
Money (and leads) become the driving force of our happiness and success in our businesses.
Don’t get me wrong, these things are super important and I love making money.
What I do want to help you with is changing your mindset into focusing on helping others or to your original driving factor of why you are creating this business. Let’s face it. The more impact you create, the more money you will have.
I love lead generation and I do it with the intention of building relationships. I want to meet and get to know everyone and if I can help them in SOME way, then that is what fuels me and makes me happy. They don’t necessarily have to be a client or be someone that I work with but if I can refer them or make any type of connection that is going to help me grow then it’s the best feeling in the world.
We are so quick to force every person we meet into a lead. Every person you contact on Facebook and you send messages to them as if they are already reaching out to you for help when we all know that is not the case.
Building relationships takes time and unfortunately it’s not a quick fix, get rich quick scheme. Every relationship worth having takes time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had clients come to me 3, 6 or even 12 months later to work with me because we have continued to stay in touch and they finally are ready to make the leap. I don’t pressure people nor do I have a set script in the DMs to get people to work with me.
You can’t force conversations to take place. Finding leads happens over time and you have to be really patient.
